TOP SELF-LOVE BOOKS TO READ IN YOUR TWENTIES

August 15, 2017

Sometimes doesn’t it just feel good to get off of your feet after a long day, bundle up in the evening, & read a good book?

I don’t know about you, but I love love love love self-care/self-love/self-help (whatever you want to call it) books! There’s just something about ’em. Although I don’t particularly care for the term “self-help,” unfortunately that’s usually the genre these kind of books fall into.

I prefer to call them self-love books : )

Self-love is SO important. Taking time to yourself, focusing on yourself, and giving yourself what you need is literally essential. You’ll just run yourself down into the ground without it.

So go practice that self-love, okay?

OKAY.

Alrighty. ANYWHO. Back to the post.

I’m not going to bombard you with sixty-seven billion books you MUST read. Because really, that’s pretty impossible for us young women who have school, jobs, relationships, & other responsibilities.

So for that reason, I picked 4 books that I really, truly, and honestly love.

Here are 4 books that I, a twenty-something girl, have read and have learned a lot from & I really believe that you can too!

PLUS: they are all around the $10 range on Amazon (all under $12.00 to be exact).

  1. Mastering Your Mean Girl by Melissa Ambrosini

This book is a self-love book if I’ve ever seen one ; ) Just read the excerpt on the front cover and you’ll know exactly what this book is a about. Ambrosini is an excellent writer and has all of the tips, tricks, & hacks to live a HEALTHY & HAPPY (HA. HA.☺ If you don’t get the lame joke/pun, then look at the name of my blog) life that we all want. Love it!!

  2. Instant Happy Journal by Karen Salmansohn

This book is more like a “fill in the blank” journal, but not a little kid kind of journal. I love it because everyday there is a little prompt. Each prompt gives you something to think about that brings out gratitude, joy, happiness, inspiration, ANYTHING. This is a great thing either first thing in the morning (because gratitude, duh!), or even as you’re climbing into bed reflecting on your day. I prefer first thing on the morning to set a positive tone/intention for the rest of my day : )

  3. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero

Now THIS book is a “pump up” book if I’ve ever seen one. You know sometimes we get into the zone of just being really hard on ourselves? Well this book shows you how to overcome this. I literally could not put the book down and read it in 1 weekend & let me tell you: it’s ah-mazing. Of course, I can’t forget to mention this is a New York Times Bestseller– so if you’ve never heard of it, it’s time to climb out from under your rock & join the party! ; )

  4. Adventures For Your Soul by Shannon Kaiser

Ready? It’s the last book on my list but certainly not least. If you are going to pick ANY book from this list to read, read THIS one. I think Shannon Kaiser is such a great writer when it comes to self-love. She shares her struggles & teaches you how to transform yourself through her hardships. This book is like, a happiness boost on crack. If you are struggling with something, feeling a little lost, or on the search for yourself + true happiness- THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. Can’t stress this enough : ) Kaiser has other books that are amazing, but THIS one is my fave.

So there you have it : )

Keep in mind, these clearly are not just for girl in their twenties! These are for women of all ages– younger & older. It’s just that I am in my 20’s and I have taken SO much away from these books.

Teens and young adults are on the search for themselves, as well as happiness, and these books can give you the inspiration you need : )
