Ever heard of dry brushing? It’s pretty much like brushing your teeth/hair, but skin. If you haven’t tried it- boy are you missing out!!

Your skin is technically the largest organ in the human body. Pretty crazy, right? Dry brushing is a fast, cheap, & easy way to cleanse this extremely important organ of yours. It also wakes up your lymphatic system! This is the system that rids bacteria, cell waste, and viruses from our bodies. When our lymphs are healthy, we feel healthy : )

I’m here to tell you the BENEFITS of dry brushing & HOW to dry brush.

Let get into it!

  • Stimulates the lymphatic system
  • Rids the body of toxins
  • Unclogs pores
  • Helps reduce cellulite
  • Removes dead skin

Um, I don’t know about you, but all of those things sound pretty great to me!

  • First things first. You and your brush are to be completely dry (duh). Just had to say it because this is the whole point! Dry brushing is something to do before you hop into the shower!
  • You should 100% be using a natural bristle brush. I prefer mine to have a longer handle on it so I can easily reach my legs & back. This is the one I purchased, but any will do : )
  • Start at your feet & brush in long strokes up & towards your heart- always. The only exception is when brushing your back- start at your neck & brush down to your lower back.
  • You should overlap as you brush each part of your body, but be careful when brushing over sensitive areas. The more you dry brush, the less sensitive you will be to it (trust me).
  • After you are done dry brushing all areas of your body, hop on in your shower! Make sure you use a loofa or a washcloth to ensure all of the dead skin from dry brushing gets off of you.
  • PRO TIP: While in the shower, alternate between the coldest water you can tolerate to the hottest water you can tolerate. This stimulates blood circulation and really gets ya going!
  • When you get out of the shower, it is important to pat dry skin and moisturize. moisturize, moisturize!!
  • Repeat this every day and you should start to notice amazing benefits : )

We could all use a little dry brushing in our lives, right?

    Love your detailed instructions!! Dry brushing has so many awesome benefits – besides the internal benefits of better circulation and lymphatic flow, it also just makes your skin happier, smoother and more glowy! 🙂

    I love this. I’ve heard about dry brushing before, but haven’t tried it. I’m trying to find ways to get rid of my cellulite, so I’ll definitely buy a brush this week!

    I keep hearing awesome things about dry brushing but still have not tried it. I didn’t realize there was a specific way to do it, either! I thought it was just rubbing a brush all over your legs and arms like you would a loofah, so thank you for telling me the RIGHT way to dry brush. Seems like a cheap and easy way to look and feel good!

    I tried dry brushing before and I really like it, once you’re past the itchiness of the first few days… I have to find that brush again!

    From now on, I will dry brush daily!!!! Loved this! I’ve heard of dry brushing but didn’t really pay much attention to it. After reading this I want to get a natural bristles brush and make dry brushing part of my beauty regime 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    How long should I spend in each area or total for my whole body?

      Total for your whole body it literally takes like 5 minutes 🙂 maybe even less?
      The length of my typical strokes are about from my ankle to my knee, then I’ll usually go over each stroke once more!
