Lately, whether it be in the morning, or even the afternoon, I have been making this green smoothie.

It’s not one of those green smoothies that you’re choking down and cringing at every sip- it’s good.

I can’t stress this enough- GREEN SMOOTHIES DON’T HAVE TO BE GROSS. Just add in some more healthy and nutritious ingredients and you’ve got the best green smoothie ever.

I’m going to show you what I put in it, but you can definitely substitute whatever foods you do or do not like : )


  • 2 (heaping, big, giant, humongo) handfuls of spinach
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 whole apple
  • 1/4 cup frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 lemon squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein and greens powder (or any vanilla flavored protein powder)
  • 1 scoop of collagen powder (I’ve been adding this to my smoothies/coffee/tea)
  • About 1/4 cup of water or almond milk (I prefer water)
  • BLEND- I use a Nutribullet. This thing can blend anything (seriously).
  • Top with another tablespoon of chia seeds.


I’m telling you, there’s nothing gross about this smoothie. You can’t even taste the veggies ; )

There are some things in the smoothie that most people would NEVER think to add in.

For example, chia seeds. Well, something great about chia seeds- they are high in fiber!

So what, right…?


Foods that are high in fiber help you feel full longer & an increase in fiber intake has been shown to help with weight loss.

The last unusual thing I added to my smoothie is lemon juice. You’d think it would overpower the smoothie and be super tart, but it’s not! Lemon helps with digestion, helps you feel full (weight loss), boosts energy levels (without yucky caffeine), and even rejuvenates your skin and gives you a fresh glow. I add it to my smoothies, but also to my water all the time!

    This sounds delicious! I am going to have to try it soon and honestly, I bet my kids will enjoy. The only way I can get my son to eat veggies is through smoothies. Thanks for this suggestion! ๐Ÿ™‚

    I love putting carrots in my smoothies, but haven’t put an apple in, I don’t have a great blender so I wonder if an apple would get chopped.
